| When you attempt to enter some places in Moodle, you will be prompted to log in using a username and password. |

| Many areas in Moodle are only accessible to users when they have logged in. If you attempt to enter one of these areas, you will need to log in. |

Solution: (public)
Moodle authenticates users using their University of Manchester username and password (sometimes referred to as your "central login"). This means that you should use the username and password you normally use to log into the university portal, Blackboard, and university cluster machines.
University of Manchester usernames are 8 characters, consist of letters and numbers, and will generally start with 'm'. You will not be able to log in with your University ID number (a string of digits); only your username.
If you do not know what your University of Manchester username or password are, or you need to have your password reset, please contact CSIS for assistance. The moodlesupport team will not be able to assist you with issues related to your username and password.
Once you have obtained or reset your University of Manchester username and password, please attempt to log into one of the lab machines around the school. Once you have successfully logged into one of the machines, you will be able to log into the Moodle system using the exact same details If you experience login problems when providing the same username and password to Moodle, please contact the moodlesupport address. |
